Lacey is a petite black and tan female who really likes being held and sitting in laps--especially for TV watching or book reading.  Lacey will lie in her bed when her people are busy; however, if one of her people sits down, Lacey is right there wanting to be picked up. She loves to chase squirrels and birds.  We have a squirrel that chatters at Lacey and she barks back at him.  Lacey has a bark more like the bark of a seal than the bark of a dog.  She will let you know when she wants back in the house by sitting at the back door and barking--it takes a bit to recognize that she is indeed barking.  She has learned that when her one of her people leaves in the morning, that the person will return--she no longer has anxiety problems with being left alone and trying to accompany them out the door.  She does have minor allergies but half a benadryl tablet wrapped in food (she will spit out a pill pocket) helps with the teary eyes.  Lacey does not do  well in crates unless the door is left open so she can come and go. She will share a crate with one of her foster mates--a very sweet, gentle, larger male dachshund. Lacey is doing better with going outside to use the bathroom; however, she is not completely housebroken.  She is especially quick to go outside if she spies a critter.  Lacey is very much a little girl who wants nothing more than the love and companionship of her special person/people.  She is easy to pick up and lies quietly when carried. She rides well in the car; she does not like being placed in a car carrier.  Lacey is not an over-eater and she does not try to take food or treats away from her foster mates.  She will stand up to another dog  if she perceives that the other dog is trying to interfere with her space or food; however, she is not a biter, nor a tempermental or  nervous dog.
