Belle is a 9 year old, red smooth female. She is Heartworm negative and in good shape.  She was an owner surrender, along with her sister Lady.  On the day of her intake, it was discovered Lady was very ill with advanced cancer and suffering.  Lady was helped to the bridge the same day.  Belle spent her first night alone in 9 years that day.  She was picked her up first thing the next morning.  She must have had a rough night because she rubbed her nose raw on the kennel bars.  She was brought to her new foster home where she quickly made friends with the other dogs. Belle is an excellent car passenger.  She sits very nicely and just looks around.  She is housebroken and will go to the door and scratch when needing to go out, and will let you know when she wants back in.  She has a healthy interest in my cat, in a good way.  She wants to know more about her... in a home willing to help her get used to a kitty friend, Belle would be fine with cats in the house.  Belle has obviously been very loved all her life.  She honestly believes if you have sat down, it is because she should be on your lap.... plain and simple, no other explanation!  She also firmly believes that if you go in the kitchen, you have done that because she is going to get a nibble of something yummy.  She follows you around wherever you go and wants only to be near another dog or a person.  She loves to be on the couch and snuggle in blankets and stands up on your leg when she wants to be held.  She has been held a lot and as soon as you acknowledge her, she expects to be picked up and eagerly lifts herself to you.  Belle has an easy going, adaptive personality, that would do well in just about any type of home.  Her former home had young children and they report she was good with them and given what I see of her demeanor, I would believe that unquestioningly.
