Hi, my name is Avery and I love love love attention and people to play with me!  I have lots of energy and love to play outside and I love to chew on hard toys that I cannot destroy (no fabric please!).  And I'm a good running partner, too...I need my exercise also.  Squirrels and birds keep me occupied, but I need a yard with a secure fence where there are no holes for me to get out.  I am very smart and know what "sit" and “hold" and “free” mean, and I’m very trainable.  I am potty trained although I might tinkle a little when super excited or scared.  If you sit on the couch you can expect me to dive bomb into your lap, as nothing makes me happier than lots of affection...I am a lap dog you know!  I’ll also follow you around the house and sleep somewhere on the floor as long as I’m in the same room as you.  I get along with cats, and living with them is great, but when it comes to other dogs, it is ideal that I be the only dog in house.  (See, I was rescued a couple of years ago from a neglected home and I used to get out a lot, so since I was used to fending for myself, I sometimes get uneasy and rather defensive around other dogs).  I am on medication one day a week for incontinence (side effect of being spayed) but you can just drop it in my food, or stick it to a tiny bit of peanut butter!
