Steffi is a beautiful 10-year-old dachshund. She has great dignity jived up with a spunky personality. Steffi’s owner must have tired of her because she was left at a shelter with heartworms. CTDR recognized her worth immediately and brought her into the adoption program. During the treatment for heartworms, Steffi had an bad reaction to the medication. We will finish her treatment using a slower method. Sadly, as a result of the reaction, Steffi lost her near vision. But you would never know it unless someone told you. She runs through backyard with the speed of a young dachshund. She moves around the house with the same confidence. I don’t think she sees herself as a senior. I have it on good authority that she is offended when offered the senior discount. She may have lost some of her sight but her nose is remarkable and guides her through life as if she is a bloodhound in a dachshund suit. She brings joy and humor to the lives of her humans.
