October Update
Mandy is absolutely amazing. Whoever said you can't teach an old dog new tricks never met Mandy. She is super sweet but like a normal old lady she can have her grouchy moments too. She has Cushings disease so will be on medicine for the rest of her life (it is about $60-70 for three-month supply).
She will also have her levels checked at least once per year. She just started taking meds for this about a year ago so her foster parents think she just had her final adjustment on dosage. She stays in a crate when they are not home (which she loves as it seems she associates it as her "safe" place -- most likely from her previous home). She does not like the word "no" and has a tendency to snap if you are bothering her when she doesn't want to be bothered. Once you get to know her "signs" she is a really great dog.
November 2010
Mandy is a beautiful red senior who was dumped at a shelter in her golden years. She was terribly overweight and had some health issues. Mandy has been in a loving foster home on a nutritious diet and is getting her waistline back. She loves her lap time even more than food. Do you have the love and a warm lap for this sweet senior gal?
UPDATE
Mandy's transformation is complete! She has shed her extra pounds and is now ready for her grand entrance to meet the world! Mandy is a loveable, sweet senior who is sure to steal your heart. Well behaved and ladylike, Mandy loves to pass the time resting quietly in her crate. When not doing this, she loves to cuddle on your lap and soak in all the attention she can get. This lovely lady certainly knows how to enjoy life, and is eager to share her great attitude with everyone she meets.

If you are searching for the perfect companion, Mandy fits the bill! She is affectionate and well mannered, just the greatest friend you could find! By adopting this great senior gal, you may think you are her blessing. But don't be fooled! She is sure to be a blessing for you!
UPDATE
Mandy has been diagnosed with Cushings disease and is on medication now. She will need to be on Vetoryl for the rest of her life and will need to have her ACTH levels checked monthly. But her foster mom says she's totally worth it, and "if you give her some time to warm up to you, she will be the dog that you talk about for the rest of your life."
