October Update

Cubby is a fine, older gentleman. He loves to be with his Human and will gladly follow you all around the house enjoying your adventures. When you sit down, he sits quietly at your feet looking at you as if to say "If it would not be too much trouble, would you be so kind as to pick me up and put me in your lap?" If you do pick him, he will quietly settle in your lap or lie on the couch next you and watch the world go by or to snooze. If you are busy and can't pick him up, then he is content to lie quietly by your feet until it is time for your next adventure together.

Cubby is definitely a Dachshund and loves his food! He quickly learns the routine of the home and will remind you when it is time to eat by whining a little and running between you and the kitchen! In Cubby's previous life, he became extremely overweight. He is now down to a good, healthy weight, but will need his family to watch his diet for him, as he does love to eat. Cubby sleeps quietly all night either in a crate or on the bed next to his Foster Mom. He has mastered the stairs both up and down to get to the bed.

Because he has Cushings Disease, he does need access to water 24 hours a day and will get up a couple of times a night to drink. His Cushings Disease is controlled very well with one pill, once a week, which, when placed in his food, he takes perfectly!

When lying by your side, he waits until you wake and then walks over to give you kisses on your cheek! Once awake, Cubby is ready for the day! He is an energetic dog and will gladly go walking with you! He loves to walk and does extremely well on a leash. He quickly does his business outside and is ready to follow your lead with bright eyes, a spring in his step and a forever wagging tail! He has never met a human he does not like and believes everyone should give him a nice pat on the head! He does like to chase cats and birds away. Cubby does like to play with a few toys either by himself or with his Foster Mom. His favorite game is tug of war! He doesn't much interact with the other dogs in his home.

The perfect home for Cubby would be a quiet home, either by himself or maybe another dog or two with a few toys he can call his own. A nice lap and someone who will give him attention and will love to be doted on by an attentive Cubby. A home with a doggie door or someone home most the time, since his Cushings causes him to need to go outside a little more frequently and someone who likes to go for walks! Cubby would be so happy with someone that would take him for walks! He really feels he must chase cats -- So a home with no cats would be perfect.

Cubby asks for so little in life, and gives such great attention and love to those who are around him. Do you have room in your home and heart for Cubby?

Cubby's Background

Cubby came to us after 9 years in the same home. His owner had to move to a place where they did not allow pets so Cubby found is way to us. He has had lots and lots of treats in those nine years, he is at least 8 pounds overweight but with the help of the "Barky Craig" plan he will be slim and trim in no time. He is heartworm negative, up to date on his vaccines and microchipped. He does have Cushing's disease so he will require one pill a week for the rest of his life. He can't be around cats or small critters. But he is a frisky sweet old boy. Won't someone give him a home for the next 9 years?
