Penelope:  Hold

As a pup, I had a family and thought my future was pretty secure. Then, one day, my family sent me to the shelter because I wasn't able to learn to like the cat. I am a natural born leader and will try to pave the way for others to follow. Unfortunately, the kitty wasn't willing to follow my lead. Being so highly intelligent gives me an edge when it comes to figuring out where I can push my boundaries, and where those boundaries are firmly rooted. As I go about my day, you can almost see my mind working as I think my way through everything I do.

I have been to school and learned the basic obedience lessons. When I play too rough or behave in an undesirable way, I will understand my mistake when you tell me "Too Bad." Using a doggie door to go outside is easy and my house manners are trustworthy. I like to rest quietly in my crate and enjoy having space of my own to relax. When you are ready for some cuddle time, having a special place on your lap is the highlight of my day!

I would do well as an only dog, or in a home where I can be the leader of the pack. I'll need a family that understands my trailblazing ways. I'll need you to be consistent and loving as I'm reminded where I fit in the family structure. The perfect home will have clear rules and limitations that I can understand and follow. I thrive on the attention of a person who will keep my mind stimulated and my body busy! Smart dogs like me can be a challenge, but the reward of loyalty, undying love and respect will make it all worthwhile!
