December Update

Rocky is doing great and has a new foster brother.

Update from Rocky -- October

Just wanted everyone to know that I have grown up to be big, strong and healthy! My coat has grown back and very soft -- all of the mange is long gone! My muscles have all filled out and I have quit growing, so probably won't get any bigger. I weigh about 16 pounds now -- That is a huge improvement over the 4.8 pounds I weighed when CTDR picked me in February 2011.

I am a special kind of guy and looking for a special family to call my own. I love to play and run, so a house with some running room and maybe some kids and another pup would be a great place for me! I play hard all day, but love to cuddle with my Mom too! Nothing wrong with some serious lap time, snuggling and cuddling to make someone feel special. I would really love to sit in your lap, and look into your eyes and touch noses with you! They say the "eyes are the window to the soul" and I love to look into someone's eyes and deep into their soul!

I walk pretty well on a leash and sleep all night quietly curled up in my crate. I mostly go outside to do my business but sometimes get confused, but I am working real hard on that. Mom says I am a real rough and tumble little boy! I try to play with cats, but they don't seem to want to play with me! I just don't understand why they won't play with me though! I try to be brave, but sometimes have to run back to Mom to make sure she is not afraid! Don't want anyone to think "I" am scared! My favorite treat is peanut butter! I go nuts -- wiggling and dancing -- when Mom opens the jar of peanutbutter!

So now that I have told you a little bit about me, is there someone special out there, looking for a guy like me to make your family complete? Oh and if you have some peanut butter...that would just be awesome!

April Update

Rocky (aka Mr. Romeo) now weighs in at 12 pounds. His coat has grown back -- patchy with peach fuzz in some places -- but it is all coming in now. His face is fully covered in real fur now and he doesn't have a food allergy, so he's back on his normal diet. We believe the redness was caused from a skin infection he has been fighting from the mange. The infection is doing much better and there are just a few pustules (small pimple-like sores) left on his body. Rocky seems to have a Beta-dog personality and he may have been beaten and/or kicked in his previous life. He cringes if his Foster Mom moves her hand too fast or if she moves her foot unexpectedly. Micci will easily chase him from food bowl, and he drops to his belly if verbally corrected. He is kennel and leash trained. He hasn't been exposed to cats or children, so we're not sure how he would act, but he's a real lover! Romeo Rocky! One of his favorite things is to sit in his Foster Mom's lap and give her hugs and kisses.

March Update

It is possible that Rocky might have a food allergy. His Foster Mom has noticed his skin turns bright pink right after he eats. She mentioned this to the Doctor and Rocky is now on a diet of vension and potatoes (and not treats). He isn't very happy about eating away from the others, and NOT getting the extra NomsNoms. (Mom just gives him some of his kibble and pretends it is a treat and is good with that!) His Mom will continue to monitor the diet and report the results to the doctor.

Rocky has gained two pounds and now weighs a total of 10 pounds. He sleeps soundly on his back with legs up in the air... His Mom can pick him up and move him and he does not wake up! He is crate trained and is learning to walk with a leash (instead of trying to eat it).

February

CTDR took in three puppies with bad cases of demodex mange from the Bastrop shelter. They were dumped by the side of a country road. There were no homes or businesses for miles. Thankfully someone saw one in the middle of the street and then found all of them and brought them to the shelter.

Rocky is the biggest at 4.8 pounds. His foster mom says he is very outgoing and so sweet! He wants to be held and loved on and likes to roll over for belly rubs. His mange is on his face and paws and he appears to be in the best shape.
