Update: Jan 6
Great news on Stanley! He has been standing on his own and has bladder and bowel control and has done so well that the doctor released him to go back to his foster home for recovery.
Update: Jan 3
We received an update late last night and Stanley did very well through surgery. He had a rupture of the L1 and the rest of the spinal area looks good. He is expected to make a good recovery and will stay at the vet's office for the next 3-4 days.
Update: Jan 2
| We received a call from Stanley's foster mom today... She said that Stanley was yelping in pain and was dragging his hind legs when he tried to walk. Stanley immediately went to the doctor and he told us that he has deep pain sensation (that is good news); however, he has lost motor function and needs surgery. We were able to get this scheduled today and we'll keep everyone posted on his progress. If you would like to contribute to his care, please use the ChipIn button. |
Update: Sept 25
Stanley's foster family tells us that he's doing great with potty training and they have seen improvement. Good job, Stanley!
Stanley weighs about nine pounds and he is the happiest dog! He came from a shelter and had terrible ear infections which are now healed and he had to have a few dental extractions. Because of the extractions, they seem to think he is about three years old. He takes daily medication for allergies -- one in the morning and two at night. But, don't worry as he gobbles them up with the rest of his food.
Because he is so small, he has a hard time jumping on the couch without help, however, he is just as happy sitting by your feet chewing on his bone. He is kennel trained and sleeps in his kennel at night and while his foster parents are gone. He still needs some work with his potty training and tends to favor using the carpet.
Stanley gets along great with his foster brothers. He travels well, loves to sit in your lap, loves baths, loves to go on walks and loves to be carried around like a baby! (Easy to do since he is so small.) However, he does not like cats or chickens! Stanley does bark when when his foster parents leave but seems to settle in quickly with a treat.
Stanley is a such a sweetheart and he's eager to find his forever home!
