CTDR finds homes for our dachshunds through adoption events,
postings on this website, posting on our PETFINDER
site and through our network of satisfied adopters.
About CTDR Dogs
All dogs that come through Central Texas Dachshund Rescue
have been fully vetted before adoption. This includes a health
exam by a veterinarian, the vaccinations appropriate for its
age, and a heartworm test and preventative. All dogs of 6
months of age or older are spayed or neutered. Dogs under
6 months of age are adopted under the agreement that they
will be spayed or neutered at the appropriate time. We also
provide dental treatment or other surgical treatments as necessary.
Adoption Fee
On March 1, 2007, our adoption
fee will increase to $250 for all dogs. All applications received by Jan. 31, 2007, will be eligible for the old fees.
Adoption Process
1.) View our list of CTDR DOGS.
2.) Complete an ADOPTION
APPLICATION and list the names of all the dogs you're
interested in. If you don't currently see a dog that matches
your family, please tell us more about what you're looking
for. We have new dogs weekly and will contact you if a dog
comes in that meets your requirements. Don't forget to list
the name and number of your current veterinarian and landlord,
if applicable! We will contact your current vet, landlord
and personal references, if needed.
3.) After we receive your application, we'll contact you to
discuss the specifics of what you're looking for. We will
try to contact you within 3-7 days, but we are all volunteers
and have full time jobs, so be patient with us!
4.) Once we have completed all reference checks, we will schedule
a home visit where someone from our organization will come
to your home and meet you and your family and any pets you
currently have.
5.) Finally, we will schedule a time when your family and
pet(s) can meet your desired rescue dachshund. As all our
dachshunds are in foster homes and not in one central location,
we will need to coordinate schedules to arrange this last
meeting. If a long transport is involved, we ask the potential
adopter to arrange the transportation of the dog. Please see
our GUIDELINES section for further
information about transports.
