UPDATE:

Sweet Penny girl has been in foster almost 2 years. She’s had some big changes since she was surrendered into rescue but she is a trooper! She was diagnosed with diabetes shortly after her intake exam.Thankfully, It’s all under control with 2x a day insulin shots (super easy and she is used to it!-meal time =insulin shot >= treats !  ) Her weight is under control with diabetic prescription food - which she loves! She’s  down to her normal weight now ❤️ She has lost her vision in both eyes. She sees some light in her good eye but one eye was removed due to complications from diabetes. She’s a smart girl and gets around great! She barks at the door when she needs to go potty or just out for a bask in the sun. She sleeps in her own bed at night and does great in the crate when you’re away. She loves veggie treats of zucchini, sweet potatoes, and carrots (cut them very thin) She is good with other dogs and cats (honestly couldn’t care less ) Penny loves people! great with very gentle kiddos- they will need to know she needs space and to put there hand out for her to smell before they pet her because she is blind. Penny LOVES a stroller ride( stroller will come with Penny) Penny is a sweet, smart, little senior who deserves to live out her golden years with someone who can dote on her! She deserves it ❤️

Penny is doing very well in her foster and has already lost 2 lbs.  She is starting to get her girlish figure back.  She loves short walks and snuggling on the couch with you. Penny also knows how to use the doggy door and would benefit in a home with one. Penny would prefer to sleep in the human bed and hates sleeping in her crate at night.  She gets along fine with the other dog in the foster home who is larger than her and she has done well with other dogs she has met.  She has met some children and is great with kids who are gentle with her.  She is the perfect guard dog and will bark when she hears the doorbell and hears your phone ringing.

Sweet Penny is a new arrival to CTDR after having been surrendered by her owner due to her owner moving into an Assisted Living Center.  Penny is a beautiful senior girl, who will need to go on a diet once she gets into a foster home.  She has had most of her vetting done and now just need a foster and a forever home in which to live out the rest of her golden years..  If interested in this sweet girl, please complete an application at ctdr.org.
