Jerry has really blossomed in more ways than one at his foster home.  He has filled out physically with regular diet and plenty of backyard exercise with his foster brothers and sister.  His true personality has emerged as well.  He is a laid-back, relaxed little guy who loves to sit in the chair on the patio after his breakfast to survey the backyard and plot his activity for the day.

Jerry knows his name and will come running when you call him.  He is always over-the-top glad to see his foster Dad when he comes home from work.  One thing you do not want to do is get in the way of Jerry’s tail when he hears that door start to open at 6 PM!   Jerry has overcome his shyness that was evident when he first came into his foster home.  Now, he gives a little jump to help you pick him up for the attention that he craves.  He is trusting to the point of lying on his back in your arms for petting.  He loves playing The Baby!

Jerry gets along very well with his foster siblings.  He will stand up for himself but mostly seems to prefer to avoid a confrontation.  He enjoys running to the fence when a cow comes up to look in, along with the rest of the pack.  He likes playing with toys but generally only if you are part of the scene.  He is very much a dog that wants human companionship, although he is not high-maintenance or overly clingy.

Jerry has gone for walks on a leash around the local square and displayed a very friendly nature when people approach him.  He is a bit cautious at first, but overcomes his shyness very quickly.

Jerry is very well-mannered and is house-trained.  He knows how to sit up and beg for a treat.   He does not have any fear of thunderstorms and is happiest when he has a full tummy and is by your side.  He does not like being confined to small areas so crating is not advised.

Jerry has not been exposed to children although there is no indication that he would not adapt to them.  He does have a very high prey drive and should not be adopted into a home that has cats.  Jerry also needs to be in a home that has a very secure perimeter fence.  Due to his high prey drive, Jerry will try to find a way to escape if he sees a cat on the other side of the fence.

Jerry is about 17 pounds and has a red brindle coat.  He is in excellent health, has all his vaccinations and is heartworm negative.  He is approximately 2 years old.

To know Jerry is to love him!
