UPDATE: 12/10/2012  Nike has a lot of high energy so you will need to be patient with this little guy.  He will need to be in a crate when no one is at home and needs to taken out on a leash to go potty.  He likes to play rough so it is recommended that he not be with real young children.  He is still in the puppy stage and is a little bit of a chewer.  He would benefit from some basic training and needs another dog in the home to keep him company.

NIKE is a very, handsome, energetic little boy!  He loves to run and play. Nike is about  a year old,  and  has the personality and attitude of a puppy!  He is inquisitive, and playful and just wants to be loved on and to give love back!  This is a big time Snuggle Pup!  If he can't be playing, then he wants to be snuggling with his people! He knows how to "sit" and "stay" and will come quickly when called.  He is doing extremely well on his house training.  His coat is red, short and puppy soft! Of course his ears are the Doxie "Flying Nun" type that blow in the breeze!  Nike sleeps well though the night either on a doggie bed next to the master bed or in the master bed with me.  He stays there until told it is time to get up, and then he goes to the front door to be let outside to take care of business.  He will walk pretty good on a leash, although he does pull a little bit, which we will work on while he is in foster care. He has not been exposed to cats yet, but reacts very friendly to children and adults and with other dogs.

Although we don't know NIKE's previous life, I feel that he has probably been abused.  When he comes to seek attention, he crawls low on the floor with his tail tucked, until you greet him and let him know it is alright to approach you. Then, he gets so happy! He stands up straight, will wag his tail and backend until I think they will fall off! When he is corrected with a "NO" he flattens down on the floor and cringes, like he is expecting to be hit. He is a little bit unsure of what toys are.  He likes to chew and will have to be re-directed to appropriate items to chew on. I think it just because he doesn't seem to have been exposed to toys before.   But he is easy to redirect, just removing the inappropriate item and give him something he is allowed to have and chew on.  He has not been destructive of any house hold items, like furniture or shoes.  He seems to want to chew on toilet paper rolls and cardboard items.  Nike does not like metal crates AT ALL!!!!

This little boy is a real lover, and when held, will wrap his paws around your neck as if to say, "Please don't put me down, and just love on me!"  He only wants to be loved and love in return.  Do you have a little love in your heart for a little furface that only needs someone to love him and someone he can love?
